The state's controversial global warming law still has the support of a majority of Californians despite growing doubts about its potential impact on the economy, according to a Field Poll released Tuesday.
The poll shows 58 percent of registered voters support Assembly Bill 32, which will require significant reductions in greenhouse-gas emissions. The poll was commissioned by Next 10, a San Francisco nonprofit group that supports green technology and reducing gases blamed for global warming.
Next 10 released the survey as AB 32 is essentially fighting for its life; a conservative group, bankrolled by Texas oil companies, is pushing a ballot initiative to delay the law's implementation until the economy recovers.
This was first time the Field organization asked Californians specifically about AB 32. But some slippage in support for the ideas behind AB 32 was revealed in a companion question that's been asked in previous years.
Asked about global warming and the economy, 69 percent of those surveyed said they believe the state can reduce greenhouse gases "and expand jobs and economic prosperity at the same time."
That was down from 74 percent in 2008 and 83 percent in 2007.
Poll director Mark DiCamillo said the diminished support reflects anxiety over the economy. In 2007, when support for the law was higher, "people were bolder in venturing into new kinds of policies," he said in an interview

It is very hard to feel sorry for any of these morons, anymore.
even as the Gub backs away from AB32
so long California.. hope ya enjoyed the ride.
The majority of people in California are idiots, and most of them live in the coastal cities where their votes are concentrated. The minority of sensible citizens left here are their victims. This is the model that President Hussein would like to export to the entire nation.
To quote Kevin McCarthy at the end of INVASION OF THE BODYSNATCHERS: “You’re next!!!”
It would be nice to know how the poll was done and what the internals are. I suspect that this is simply a headline grabbing poll.
The way these questions were asked and who was polled basically make this thing a joke. Only a special interest group with their agenda in mind would trumpet this poll.
Can’t fix stupid ...
“The poll was commissioned by Next 10, a San Francisco nonprofit group that supports green technology and reducing gases blamed for global warming.”
THAT right there is enough to stop reading.
I just conducted an informal survey of registered voters in my area of California and 93% say the Sacramento Bee is lying.
Anyone who wants to see “government as a suicide pact” in operation, just take a look at California.
Knowing the level of liberal insanity that is burying the state, I would not bet anyone’s life savings on this poll data. And we know how much money flows into Sacramento at election time from the enviro-whackos, well, it speaks for itself.

Remember, 71% of all statistics are made up.
The shamelessness with which these people propagandize would make Joseph Goebbels blush
“A San Francisco Non Profit Group that Promotes Green Technology”???????? Obviously an unbiased poll!
Not. One. Red. Cent. Of. Federal. Tax. Dollars. To. Bail. Out. California.
Not won, one, or even 1. Not $0.01. NADA, ZILCH, ZERO.
This is a self inflicted wound. Let them bleed.
Most of those votes come from San Francisco and Los Angeles areas. The same goes for any voting in the state. You would see a big difference if the state was split in half. Most of the population of the state is in these two areas. If you looked at a map of California, most is conservative but don’t have the population to over rule the populated areas.
so long California.. hope ya enjoyed the ride.
It would be nice to send all the flakes to this manic state. Their level of dysfunction and delusion is irreversible. They truly need those drugs.
