These are the same utopians who are contemptuous of traditional religious influence in public life.
Their belief in evolutionary spiritualism is not based in Christianity. It is precisely the deceit clarified in Genesis as the knowledge of good and evil. They are, in Judeo/Christian terms, practitioners of cultic demonism. Both the Old and the New Testements claim that God hates their treachery.

“One of the most important developments of our time, I would argue, is the growth, as a consequence of the rapid decline of Christianity, of irrationalist substitutes for it....When you expel the priest, you do not inaugurate the age of reason; you get the witch doctor.”
—Paul Johnson

“Both the Old and the New Testements claim that God hates their treachery.” ~ AtP

And I include Obama’s latest “spiritual advisor” (to replace Jeremiah Wright), into that mix.

Jim Wallis, like all Marxist redistributionists, reminds me of Judas:

John 12:1-8

Verse 5: Judas said, “Why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?

(He, like the Marxists today, quote the Scriptures that say things like: “Since therefore there will never cease to be some in need on the earth, I therefore command you, ‘Open your hand to the poor and needy neighbor in your land.” [Deuteronomy 15:11], to justify his secret greed.

Verse 6: (Judas) “did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it!”

(From the very beginning, Jesus referred to Judas as “a devil” (John 6:70-71). Jesus warned His disciples Judas was not loyal, he was not to be trusted, and he would actively work against Him.)

Verse 7: Jesus said to Judas: “Let her alone; (this perfume is her private property and she may do with it as she chooses); she has kept this for the day of my burial. (Of course Jesus said this in spite of knowing the Scriptures such as Judas would quote).

Verse 8: Jesus continued: “For the poor you have with you always, but me you do not have always.”

Judas - and other “social justice” Marxists like Jim Wallis - find Scriptures like this quite inconvenient for their agenda: “You shall do no injustice in judgement. You shall not be partial to the poor (pervert justice by favoring the poor), nor honor the person of the mighty. But in righteousness you shall judge your neighbor.”. Leviticus 19:15

“..But the “theologies of liberation”.. go on to a disastrous confusion between the poor of the Scripture and the proletariat of Marx.” ~ Pope Benedict XVI
