In his address at the New Economic School in Moscow earlier this month, Obama told students that the war had not been won by either side.
“Make no mistake: this change did not come from any one nation alone,” he said. “The Cold War reached a conclusion because of the actions of many nations over many years, and because the people of Russia and Eastern Europe stood up and decided that its end would be peaceful.”
In his comments to students in Moscow, Obama seemed to be heeding Mikhail Gorbachev’s words to Stanford University students in 1990 that, “The Cold Was is now behind us. And let us not wrangle over who won it.”

My husband and I were talking about this at the dinner table last night. my 12 year old daughter asked me to explain it to her. I explained our previous policy and this new policy.

Her response, "He wants us all to die".

It's sad when a 12 year old child can grasp the obvious. But then, she's better informed than most adults.

So it is no accident that this is released so shortly after Netanyahu’s visit. Here’s an interesting comment by jmc:

An Israeli attack on Iran is almost inevitable by this stage.

In the event of an attack by Israel the response will be a WMD attack with chemical and biological agent by Iran and others.

Before this announcement US would have been moral bound to come to Israels defense because of the use of WMD by others. But as Israel has not signed the NPT Obama has just bought himself a bye.

This is Obamas way of washing his hand of Israel when it is attacked with chemical and biological weapons.
