I was in Boston, walking on Newbury Street two weeks ago, and I saw a liberal with a handprinted cardboard sign and literature, looking for census workers.
The pay? Starting at $22.50 an hour.
Unbelievable.
I live in the San Francisco East Bay Area and I just met an 82-year-old census employee who also makes $22.50 per hour, and he’s on the clock as soon as he leaves his home. He was a census employee in 2000, as well.
The pay is based on the cost of living in the part of the country you live in. It could be $22.50 in one area and $11.50 in other areas. But, the Census does pay 65 cents a mile and it is all tax free.
