Free Republic was, and continues to be, a firm supporter of the War on Terror. And we believe that war is best waged off shore, and that diplomatic efforts best serve us when focused on the winning of that war; not as an alternative.
This does not mean we agree wholeheartedly with everything the Bush administration did during their tenure, but the focus of the war, including Iraq, was properly focused on our enemy. What was missing was a continued American will to fight, having been subversively undermined by the American media and Democrat propaganda. Up to and including disinformation, lies and distortions.
While not everyone here agrees, those who don’t are in the distinct minority, and earn a rather bumpy ride. So be it.
I agree wholeheartedly. The war on Iraq was lost on the homefront while successful on the battlefield.
This as stated previously was a failure to remind the public of the issues daily, combat the lies coming from the left and the MSM and also a failure by the leadership to BEHAVE as we are doing the right thing. It always seemed that whenever you saw a representative of the Bush administration talking about the war they were always very weak, apologetic and certainly not as passionate as the opposition.
I think that the Bush administration changed when they caught flack for the “Mission Accomplished” carrier landing fiasco. The MSM and the libs beat them up over it and the admin. looked like a bunch of marble mouthed dopes. You know what, I loved the entire Mission accomplished thing and I understand what it was trying to convey. I was also damned proud to have a leader that was able enough to fly that plane. After that day, it seems the criticism took all the fire out of the administration’s “communication” regarding the war.
I was at Ground Zero on 9/11. Lost 20+ friends and co-workers This war was the right thing and I never let anyone forget it who tries to tell me otherwise. However, I also remember Bin Laden saying his goal was to destroy the American economy and I can’t help thinking that he has won the war with the help of the Democratic Party.
WE, as a political voice from the right, have to learn (and are learning SLOWLY) that we can’t be polite responding to the left, we have to be just as aggressive as they are in taking the fight to the opponent and for the good Lord’s sake forget the entire white guilt/apologist mentality and realize it is not racism to question the acts of a black person and confront that person. and respond quite aggressively when accused of being racists for doing so.
