Just a couple of sidebars:
1- Increasing immigration pushes more Anglos out of the Democratic party and into the ranks of “independents” and the GOP
2- How soon before this minority “coalition” turns on each other?
Yes; it seems to me that many of the sub-groups which form the democrat coalition don't have a great deal in common, other than their demands for handouts. Do Peruvians have that much in common with, say, Mexicans? Or gays with teamsters? Or blacks with latinos? etc., etc.
Immigrants account for one in 8 U.S. residents, the highest level in more than 80 years. In 1970 it was one in 21; in 1980 it was one in 16; and in 1990 it was one in 13. In a decade, it will be one in 7, the highest it has been in our history. And by 2050, one in 5 residents of the U.S. will be foreign-born.
We bring in 1.2 million legtal immigrants a year, 87% of whom are minorities and most of whom are poor and undeducated. Immigrants and minorities vote Dem, the party of free stuff. 53% of immigrant headed households are on welfare.
