Frankly, I’m not thrilled with Portman. He’s served in the Bush Administration and is too establishment. But we’re stuck with him, so real conservatives need to try to influence him.

Excellent thinking. Make him beholden to us for victory and he’s less likely to stray.
Conservatives must never forget that it was free men that freed them not politicians.
It is the nature of politicians to always disappoint.
And grace be to God, we’ll get our freedoms back.

a 5% lead over one person, and 7% over the other one. If this were the Dem candidate, the leads would be referred to as "insurmountable". And with Acorn crippled this year, the potential stolen vote count should be lower; even better news.
Who knows? Maybe those two kids who brought down Acorn will be in history books as saviors of the Republic.

I’m shocked that after all the underhanded things she has done Frau Brunner is still in this race. Portman definately has my vote.

Rob Portman Is A "Hard-Core Conservative" (On The Issues)Rob Portman was my Congressman for many years. Yes, he accepted roles in the Bush administration and peformed those extremely well. There appears to be a lot of completely unfounded speculation as to Rob Portman's conservatism. It is unparalleled for any Ohio Senator in at least the last 50 years. I've met him and donated/volunteered to his campaigns. He's light years better than Voinivich or DeWine and will also help us to forget the really horrible years of Glenn and Metzenbaum.
Trust a Buckeye. Portman will be a U.S. Senator beloved by FReepers.

I guess one could say that Voinovich is retiring, if by retiring one means that he determined there was no way in hell he would ever be re-elected and chose to avoid an embarassing ass-whupping by not seeking re-election.

Brunner is a close friend; love her like a sister.
She is dead wrong about just about everything that matters and can be voted upon by a U.S. Senator.

Portman is pro 2nd Ammendment, and pro-small business, and pro-life. I’m eagerly awaiting to mark my ballot for him.

That's crazy. Portman is a consistent fiscal conservative and an outstanding candidate.
He doesn't need to be "influenced" by "real conservatives." He IS one.
And he's going to win. CONTRIBUTE and help him. Otherwise you're helping THE ENEMY.
