Too risky to raise. Bury it Chernobyl-style.

Watch this. They will drop or break it while raising and the mercury will be released.

Anyone want to bet that it breaks up while it’s being lifted, and spills mercury all across the entire seabed on which it’s resting?

Norway should just convert a few hundred of its sovereign gold ingots into fishing weights by drilling a hole thru ‘em. Then lower the weights into the vicinity of the mercury, and if the ingots come up coated with merc, it will show the containers were breached.

This was the first submarine to be sunk by another submarine (British). There was a special on this and I believe it was the History Channel.

I would suggest they build some type of form around the sunken sub, and pump the form full of some type of super strong reenforced epoxy and pull it up and take it on shore to be examined and disposed of.

Just for reference, the mercury itself is worth around $1 million.

Mercury is a serious hazard. Yet our Congress has mandated that every light bulb in our homes will contain hazardous mercury.
