My wife works for a private practice for an OB/GYN doctor and starting next week he will no longer accept Medicare or Medicaid because he already takes a loss on it now and with at least 32 million more there’s no way he can survive.
It’s only a matter of time before physicians will be forced to accept Medicare and Medicaid.
It’s those programs that caused the increase in health care costs. Once the government got involved and mandated their reimbursement schedule things spiraled out of control.
Look at the two areas of medicine which the government hasn’t set the reimbursement rates: cosmetic surgery and lasik surgery. Costs have gone down in those areas.
