I am a proud teacher, and an even prouder FReeper. Here’s my take on this situation. First of all, we get this sort of thing in the “junk” mail at school all the time. Not only do we get hard copy; we also get emails. They arrive looking very official in expensive envelopes, with lots of compliments to the school and the teacher. I’m imagining that the teacher saw the Obama seal and thought, “It’s the President; it’s fine.” The teacher unfortunately probably never even thought that it might be Democrat propaganda and that a Republican alternative could also have been offered.
I’m not ignorant; mine go straight into the recycle bin.

This really cannot be an excuse. He never should pass anything out without reading it first ! He's the source of information for the kids, and has a responsibility to do so. Anything less shows a complete lack of understanding, if not outright abuse, of the position of power that he holds.

I doubt it. I think that teacher knew exactly what they were doing.

Yes, but does 'junk' mail include items that are federally mandated, school district approved 'programs'?

I'm just not on the 'blame the teacher' wagon that everyone else seems to be on , here, today.

I think the principal and board acting like they knew nothing about it, is a clue to where the real problem lies.

There is an old joke about our intelligence services: "They had better be traitors, because the alternative is worse!"

I don't consider sloth and ignorance acceptable excuses in teachers.
