Didn't McCain turn on her like a pit bull after the 2008 debacle? I think Palin has shown she resonates support across our country she like Reagan needs to know that she doesnt need the GOP as much as the GOP needs her. Thats the game shes got to play with these idiots. The GOP didnt really care that much for Reagan either but they realized they needed him. Palin needs to have that kind of confidence or she gets swallowed up. Look, after Reagan was in office some of his biggest battles were with his own party. If he hadnt learned to stand up to them before, then he would not have stood up to them when he was in the White House.
This is Palin's testing ground right now. If she caves into the "councils of (political) war" that breed timidity, she will have lost it.

Actually he didn't, it was his campaign manager, and he has managed to make a fool of himself since her book. Or, more to the point, she blew the whistle on what a loser he was.
That being said, he should have come to her defense a bit stronger, imho.
