Perhaps. But that is not the way it is.

If you would like it to be so, work to change the laws. But do not expect laws to change after the fact to suit your whims.

That is the way it is. It’s why presidents release tax returns and medical records, or someone like Jo.Ke. who released his military records in 2004. We didn’t realize that a lack of personal transparency was the kind of change that Obama was really promoting.

The current state of the law would be sufficient, if enforced.

The law as it is, is not being enforced. That is the primary problem. The chief executive happens to also be the chief offender, and no other branch of government is willing to enforce the existing law.

The government as originally instituted presumed a nation of people who would first and foremost, self govern. Using that standard, few laws would be needed, because the underlying culture, and a belief in God’s retribution, were the main enforcers of generally understood morality.

We do not need any more laws. We need self government, beginning with each individual.
