I see, as always when the discussion turns to lane splitting, a lot of bike envy. “Whaaa, I’m stuck in traffic so you have to be stuck in traffic too”. Never mind that letting bikes filter opens up that section of road to another car and gets everybody through traffic faster. Maybe instead of whining about how unfair it is to let bikes share lanes you cage runners should go get a bike yourself.

I was in Taiwan once and they have a large painted area at each stop light. At first I thought “why the huge cross walk!?”
But, the cars all stop at the paint mark. And as the light is red all of the scooters and motorcycles weave through the stopped cars and get to the front and wait in the painted area. I imagine once everyone gets used to it the accidents go down.
