When Mejar Patricia Yapp attended the Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix in 2005, she was just a spectator.
This time around, the only female pilot of the MiG 29 aircraft in Asia, will thrill racing fans during the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) aerial acrobatic display at the three-day event.
She said what excited her most about the event was that it was the most prestigious in the region.
The most important thing is to have proper planning and training before each task, said the 33-year-old pilot who has clocked more than 1,000 flying hours.
She has been flying the Russian fighter jets since 2006 when she joined the No. 17/19 squadron here.
The team of six pilots, known as Smokey Bandits, and their supporting staff are training at the RMAF base here in preparation for the display.
Team leader Lt-Col Norazman Samion said the display depended on the weather and would be adjusted accordingly.

The problem with female fighter pilots is the walls of their female parts keep breaking down under high-G turns. So the female G-suits have an additional insert. But then we could never get them to concentrate. When they got airborne all they wanted to do was load and unload, load and unload. The tatars are an ethnic group long settled in Russia and Ukraine as well as other parts of Eastern Europe.
They rode west in one of the great invasions of the tenth century.
