Only story I have heard in that regard was back in Lebanon, early 1980's, a Russian agent or two got snatched by some group who went to making all sorts of demands. KGB snatched up some of their compatriots in turn and every day a bloody body part would be delivered to the gang's hideout, with the sincere promise that every single acquaintance of theirs was going to suffer that same fate unless the Russians were released, unharmed. Didn't take long for that situation to turn around, so the tale goes. I don't have a solid idea whether true, accurate or what, nor do I have any links. May just be another one of those internet stories.
