(To tell you the truth, the only Sam Jones I'm familiar with is the great Celtics guard from the 60s!)
Boswell credits Johnson with “Hell is paved with good intentions”, and was deemed a proverb by the learned in the 17th century. It has antecedents as far back as the 12th century by Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, who is credited with, “Hell is full of good intentions and desires”.
But it's entirely possible the good evangelist Jones was the one who put us “on the road”!
So, as far as I'm concerned, this is your point!
