American? At what point will our planes be considered hostile? 18 months ago that was unthinkable; now? not so much.
Okay so here is the deal. They may be able to fly 3,000km and the description is below. But, at 3,000km they are going feel gravity pretty quick.
A straight line to Israel from the border of Iran is 1,000km. Good luck making that flight plan but assuming you do, that mean round trip you have 2,000km consumed.
Let’s pretend they don’t have to fight, evade or maneuver while they are out on their proverbial walk in the park with Kasansky. They still have to roll up and set up on target to acquire, then fire and guide, then roll out for evasion. That’s gonna burn more fuel.
Now the Israeli’s are going to see you coming from a 100 miles away and they will scramble, which means you are going to have to maneuver and maybe even go afterburner. That’s burns fuel PDQ!
In fact, afterburner is like punching it on a GTO, Gulp, Gulp, Gulp. Pretty soon you are out of fuel.
This is not a good place to be when you are going up against the top fighter pilots in the world, who are being attacked on their homeland and they are more motivated to protect their loved ones than an aggressor would be to simply attack.
Now besides all that, what would be the point? You are also going up against a superior command and control air force and surely the ground force would be marshalled with their missiles that laze pretty heavy.
Now if you have no army to come in and finish the job, where is this little excersise going to get you? Nowhere!
Here is confirmation of your earlier post but that is best case scenario and like the driver on a track rating your car for mileage. Your results may vary.
ehran and the Russian Rosoboronexport arms group are about to sign a mammoth arms deal running into tens of billions of dollars for the sale to Tehran of 250 Su-30MKM warplanes and 20 IL-78 MKI fuel tankers. DEBKAfiles military sources report Iran has stipulated delivery of the first aircraft before the end of 2007.
The transaction, Russias largest arms deal in 30 years, will endow Iran with a long-range aerial assault capability. The Sukhoi can sustain a four-and-a-half hour raid at its maximum range of 3,000 km against long-distance, marine and low-lying ground targets across the Persian Gulf and Middle East, including Israel and Lebanon.
The fuel tankers extends the Su-30MKMs assault sustainability to 10 hours and its range to 8,000 km at altitudes of 11-13 km. The closest comparable plane in the West is the American F-15E fighter bomber. Irans acquisition of an exceptionally large fleet of the Russian fighter-bomber will elevate its air force to one of the two largest and most advanced in the region, alongside the Israeli Air Force.
Cool! I need one of those.

Apparently they came from the Mediterranean to near Haifa: http://www.africasia.com/services/ne...8.d808erq7.php
Israel scrambles fighter jets over warplane alert
Israel’s air force scrambled fighter jets over the northern city of Haifa on Tuesday after several foreign warplanes approached the Jewish state’s air space, media reports said.
The Israeli jets returned to base after determining that the foreign aircraft, which apparently approached the Israel coast from the Mediterranean, were not hostile, Channel Two reported.
The report did not say from which country the jets were from and it was not clear what they were doing near Israeli airspace.
The Israeli military confirmed the incident, but provided no details except that it ended quickly.
“They came back almost immediately after being scrambled once the identity (of the foreign aircraft) was established,” an army spokesman said.
The incident occurred as Israelis celebrated the Jewish festival of Passover. Israel’s military is sensitive to attack on festivals, since a surprise offensive launched by Syria and Egypt on the Yom Kippur holy day in the 1973 Middle East war.
Your link no worky. but from the Med? That’s funny.
Maybe it’s Spain. LOL
Yep they changed it...not your fault.
Hey jhpigott
“John Free” here.....aka that is.
;-)
Must have been Russian.
it’s probably just a drill. Syria may just be flying a large formation near the Golan. Highly doubtful Syria would launch a military attack right now. They are out numbered in every fashion.
Oh, He will. If He didn’t want it there, it wouldn’t be.
Considering that we have generals who have proclaimed that “diversity” is more important than the security of the troops.
Thanks for that.
I wouldn't be surprised. The sadist is doing everything he can to agitate the American people, and because Israel refuses to obey "their master", why wouldn't he do the same to them? It's not like he has any real friends.
I'll bet the thought the AF1 fly over NYC was "funny."
Yeah. It's a pretty sad state our country is in right now.
Russia.
my bad . . . here is a good link

Obama didn’t take a military jet home from Afghanistan, did he?
No problemo.
I think it is funny the Israeli’s are an island in the middle of a bunch of snakes and vipers can’t seem to do any damage.
