One week before the most solemn day in the Christian year, the city of Davenport, Iowa removed Good Friday from its municipal calendar, setting off a storm of complaints from Christians and union members whose contracts give them that day off. Taking a recommendation by the Davenport Civil Rights Commission to change the holiday's name to something more ecumenical, City Administrator Craig Malin sent a memo to municipal employees announcing Good Friday would officially be known as "Spring Holiday."

I heard they changed it back to Good Friday.
Would not surprise me, the folks were not happy with the change.
What good is havin' a German Pope if this is allowed?

I guess it depends on what the rating scale is. ;-)
Too bad I didn’t see it those times.....this posting worked best for me and my lunch break.
I heard they changed it back to Good Friday.
Yeah, after Fox News and the blogosphere got done beating them up the little bureau-Nazi did a 180 and reversed himself.
I’m sure this will not be the last time it is tried though.
