Would not surprise me, the folks were not happy with the change.

If they didn't, or they don't, the Pope better ''visit'' them!
What good is havin' a German Pope if this is allowed?

The same crowd who insist on calling Christmastime “the holidays” while denying it’s because they don’t want to say “Christ...”.

They changed it to "something more ecumentical".
It's GOOD FRIDAY! It commemorates the day our Lord and Savior was crucified. How can anyone get something ecumentical out of that? It's completely nuts!

Let’s rename the Jewish holidays something secular too. Let’s call Passover “Flat Bread Day” and Purim “Whew That was a Close One.”

setting off a storm of complaints from Christians and union members whose contracts give them that day off If you can't recognize the day for what it is, you can't have it off.
Heck, let's see City Hall open on Sundays now.

Why is it that we look to Iowa when picking our candidates for the general election?

Hey,it could be worse. Most of the “progressive” towns around Boston renamed Easter “Anti-Imperialism/Anti-Oppression Day” years ago.

They only reason that it is a holiday is because it’s Good Friday. Otherwise, no reason to take it off.

How about Crucifixion Day? Because Hanging Day wouldn’t be accurate.

I heard they changed it back to Good Friday.
Yeah, after Fox News and the blogosphere got done beating them up the little bureau-Nazi did a 180 and reversed himself.
I’m sure this will not be the last time it is tried though.
