Democrats and unions already killed American manufacturing long before China became our biggest trading partner.
Read history. Learn economics. Wal-Mart makes America richer.
Wrong. Wal-Mart is not just like government. You have the choice never to go back.
Hey. Pssstttt over here. Somebody better look up Walmart Officers Bios. There Liberals in that thar corporation with strong ties to the Democratic party. Not making it up I promise. Add to that the ones now running Walmart are fixing to RUIN Walmart if some of it's current policies and practices are not soon changed. Ever wonder why Walmart suddenly jumped on the Green Environmental Bandwagon? Read the BIO's.
I don't give Walmart beyond a decade unless it's management returns to some of the reasons Walmart was a success to start with. Go back to MADE IN USA. Open LAYAWAY back up especially at Christmas. Stock the shelves and put some on hand extra inventory back in the stock rooms again. Bring back popular name brand items in all departments that over the past year and a half or so Walmart stopped selling. That would please me for starters. Oh Yea. If Walamrt wants me to ever try Great Value food items? I want to see where it is made first.
Thank you. I'm very glad others are now speaking out. Yes Walmart is on a decline for the reasons you speak. In less than a decade it will be the next K-Mart if it doesn't under go some radical corporate changes back to common sense.
“Wal-Mart is not just like government. You have the choice never to go back.”
You’re right. Another reason I detest Wal-Mart: even though those little mom & pop places may have been a little more expensive, they offered more than their fair share of jobs to the kids during the summer and if you needed money for your local 3&2 team, they would gladly give what they could. Wal-Mart is so big though that they can go in and lowball prices even under the wholesale cost and pretty soon it’s curtains for everyone else. I do believe Sam is rolling over in his grave when he sees what is going on today.
Sam was a business man. That being said I do not think he would be pleased in the least with what Walmart became after he death and that of his son. The recent changes at Walmart several of us have been hammering on for a while reflect the new corporate management and it's attitude toward consumers. What some think Walmart is {conservative} and what it actually is {ran by liberals} are two very different things.
Sam Walton would have never built and wasted money on building a GREEN Walmart. He would have not reduced his store wide inventory that much is a for certain. His storerooms would be stocked. If you wanted a TV he'd have it and a clerk would actually go look. Sam knew to sell items you had to have them out on the shelves to do so and not in a far away warehouse ready to arrive in the store on time next week while the shelves sat empty.
If you wanted light bulbs Sam would have them. If you needed spark plugs and a distributor cap for your can Sam had them. Any kind you wanted. Sam would not have been a prime player in dictating what type of lights you must buy and use.
Early on Walmart items even their outdoor power equipment was fairly decent and lasted a reasonable while. The stuff being made for that every day low price now is Cheap CRAP!
First of all,I'd not only allow but promote drilling for more oil and gas,and mining for coal and other minerals, everywhere in the U.S. including offshore. Also I'd promote the construction of more nuclear power plants using a proven design for the first several dozen, build that breeder Jimmy CahTuh cancelled, and promote research on the next generation of power plants.I'd NOT destroy existing hydro-power on the complaint of some radical enviromentalists but build more wherever hydro would be economically sensible.
Abundant, cheap, energy would go a long way to boosting any economy.Cheap energy allows more processing ,manufacturing, and transportation as well as keeping buildings comfortable.
And by not sending billion$ weekly in oil payments (or foreign aid to be misused )to countries that despise and hate America our economy would be strengthened and theirs weakened, plus our military would not have to be quite so concerned with safeguarding oil and other shipments.
While I was running the economy,I would enforce all the existing immigration laws and let American citizens compete fairly for jobs in America.
Since you gave me the power to "run the economy",I would make the whole nation a "right-to-work" where unions are free to organize but no one could be legally forced to join or stay in any union, nor would government contracts be awarded on the basis of favoring any union, ethnic group, or anything but meeting spec at the best price. And if a company or a government body could find workers willing to replace striking workers I would extend the full protection of the laws to those companies and new workers vigorously prosecuting any attacks or vandalism,
There would be a reining in of the EPA and all the alphabet agencies ;businesses or even individuals might be required to spend money to clean up deliberate bad environmental practices on their property but huge punitive fines that feed the government monster would end. There would be a stop to the ridiculous excess of closing an interstate highway for hours to "clean up" a spill of a few gallons of diesel fuel from a crash, among many now common practices that are hardly balanced in terms of cost vs. results.
Oh,and we'd have tort reform such that the courts could no longer be viewed as lotteries to make lawyers and a few clients rich, while running up the costs for everyone else.
There are no doubt a number of other steps that should be taken that would restore the Constitutional ,limited government and therby ease the tax burden on the economy.
One of the radical things I have in mind would be decriminalization of drug use ,returning to the traditional view of one being responsible for one's acts whether under the influence of voluntary ingested chemicals or not. This would cause a huge drop in illegal drug prices and profitability, reduce the "need" for addicts to steal or prostitute, lower violent confrontations over "sales territory",and allow much cash to be used for ordinary expenses like food and rent.Of course, welfare and medicaid would be restructured so that those who could work would get only temporary help focused on getting them employed again.Persons receiving disability would be looked at not only to see if they could no longer perform their old job but if there were any jobs they could reasonably do even part-time.Robbing people of the dignity of earning their own way by making them dependent on handouts is not the mark of healthy economic policy.Major property reform would also be a key point so that the elderly ,infirm,or even the poor citizens would not be forced to move by their inability to pay taxes on their homes.
While I am at it,government student aid and government subsidies to colleges would be drastically restructured with an eye to future earning of the student and funding of basket-weaving,ethnic studies, and artistic expression would need private monies.
Oh yes,no more "eminent domain" being used to take private property fro development so that another private entity might enrich itself and government also through increased taxes. We would also NOT use government funds (taxes) to build sports stadiums or any other business.Loaning money for such projects should be the realm of private banking.
Left out a word:I meant to say “proprty TAX reform” not “property reform”;although under the area of proerty reform I would have the federal government sell off or transfer the majority of land not in military bases to the public through new homesteading and transfers to the states.
No cheering for Walmart from my quarter either. They just gave $1.2 million to LA RAZA for a ‘pathway to Latino employment.’

Well then, that's it for Walmart. Locking lips with any of the reconquista a-holes will get you on our "do not patronize" list real quick.
Walmart is peeing on themselves to make nice with big labor. Big labor has its taproot in Marxism. Walmart just gave LA RAZA $1.2 million to create ‘a pathway to Latino employment.’ As a lifelong Arkansan, it truly pains me to see ‘Walmart the Corporation’ bastardizing Sam Walton’s accomplishment with the ‘Walmart of the Entrepreneurial Spirit.’

BTW what makes you think TYSON no longer has NWA in a headlock?
BTW what makes you think TYSON no longer has NWA in a headlock?
Walmart
Emerson
Wiendt-Sonas
Flint Creek Power plant
Franklin Electric
None of these were around to compete for labor back when I was young.
Tyson? I was thinking of Peterson Produce and his Bredehoft
chicken catchers.
It was Peterson who refused to give his workers a .25 cent increase in pay, so many of his workers bailed out for the above non ag companies. Peterson then started the process of going to MEXICO and bringing the first latinos into this area. They worked cheap!
