"Due to this cost increase to existing policies with a fine per employee for each infraction, companies will find it cheaper to eliminate their health care plans entirely and refer their employees to seek out their own personal policy or inform them of a government sponsored health care insurance policy. The individual company that does this will still face the fines for not providing health care for their employees, but that total amount of the fines is smaller than the actual costs of paying the employer benefits amount added to the imposed fines for policies that the government decides is lacking in government approved health care coverage."

A colleague of mine made the very same point to me last Friday regarding my employer's cost to insure vs. paying the govt penalty. The objective for this law was to funnel everyone into the govt plan, and through additional legislation create the single payer system that has been the ultimate goal of the left all along.
