Georgians never attacked Russia. Russians decided for no reason to support ethnic separatistsâ rebellion against Georgia, and supported Chechen muslim terrorism against Christian Georgia. Russians have illegally occupied Georgian land since the early nineties when Russia invaded Georgia UNPROVOKED. This is why the Russians deserve no pity when it come to their own problems with Chechen separatists. As long as Russia occupies Georgian land then they are an EVIL EMPIRE which must be fought and destroyed.
Are you linking Georgians to this terrorist act this way? Is it their revenge?
Your pro-Georgian bias is not logical. Russian troops were placed in Ossetia by OSCE and UN not by Russian unilateral act. It was for a reason cause both sides were eager to kill each other and did it same way it was in Bosnia. No side was right or wrong there but Georgia had nazist President Gamsahurdia who officially claimed ‘Georgia for Georgians’ on national TV and sent his Mhedriony militia thugs to kill innocent people in Ossetia back to earlier 90s. It was very typical for any failed post-Soviet state to heat up national tensions to distract people from corrupt government. That is why Ossetians don’t like Georgian state which is a symbol of their opression.Ossetians who are Christians too, not muslims as you claim, did same bad to Georgians but they wanted their independence for a reason. Both are to blame, but Ossetians are very small nation comparing to Georgia. They were unlikely to survive this Balkan-style conflict without foreign help and they are thankful to the Russians who has that little excuse backing them.
The critizism of so-called Russian disproportional response for Georgian attack killing OSCE&UN backed Russian troops is just ridiculous, especially considering a fact it wasn’t too much disproportional as cocain-addict Georgian dictator claims. These proportions are terms of police brutality not a military action which has to be as disproportional as possible to ruin enemy’s ability to wage war.
Not to mention Georgia was a heaven for an Islamic extremists used it’s Pankisi district as a base for their attacks on Russia for decades.
All the pro-Georgian opinions here are based on bias media coverages paid by Georgian government and thier lobby. They are in fact nazy dictatorship and not any better ally than Saddam’s Iraq who played American friend some 30 years ago too.
LOL. Ossetians are no more Bolshevics than Georgians themself since Georgia given birth to Stalin.
As for Saddam you are again ignoring the fact he was good waging his war against Iran that same time he killed Kurds in just same way Georgian President did to Ossetians.
As for Saddam he is one of the worst ever but he had beheaded Islamists with his own hands. It is the way to rule there. You have to get an idea of most Iraqis won’t give rat’s a$$ for democracy and human rights. It is absolute alien for their tribal tensions. They are to be ruled another way. Any reports of Saddam supporting Jihad is a poor BS since his Iraq was a secular nazy-socialist type dictatorship. Thus, it was bad but not such a hellhole as it is now.
Stalin was Ossetian.
Weren’t Hitler and Mao Ossetian too? He was Born in Gori, Georgia. His real lastname is Dzuzashvili which is Georgian, not Ossetian who has Russian suffixes in their lastnames.
Stalin was Ossetian.
That’s a pretty stupid statement. In any case, a marxist like Stalin who was an ethnic Georgian - possibly Jewish - or a Muslim has no allegiance to ethnicity - just ideology. Ideology can sometimes trump religion as in the case of Jewish marxists such as Marx and many others who were virulently anti semitic.
You should take this up with the Ossetians. Every time you say Stalin was Georgian, you are admitting Georgia's sovereignty over "South Ossetia" which is actually part of Kartli, a Georgian region.
"When Stalin's dying father was admitted to hospital, significantly he was still registered as Ossetian. Stalin's enemies, from Trotsky to the poet Mandelstam in his famous poem, relished calling him an "Ossete" because Georgians regarded Ossetians as barbarous crude and, in the early nineteenth century, non-Christian." - Simon Sebag MontefioreYou learned something today.
If that hatred towards Ossetians as a people in common who are so-called “barbarous and crude” and “sided with Bolsheviks” (just like once Georgians, Ukrainians, Poles etc..) is represents a typical Georgian viewpoint I fully supports Ossetians who don’t believe Georgians president lies they are “a single nation”.
BTW, following official Georgian theory of reunition noting Ossetians and Georgians as a single Georgian nation Stalin is Georgian anyway.
Not to mention a little Ossetian blood his Georgian father had doesn’t make him Ossetian. Just like Jewish descent doesn’t make Hitler a Jew.
The Ossetians have behaved barbarously by exterminating and ethnically cleansing all the ethnic Georgians in South Ossetia. If they have a bad reputation, it’s because they have earned it.
Ossetians did ethnically cleansing Georgians, so did Georgians to Ossetians. Why are you silent about Georgians? It is clear you have a political agenda.
