That's one hefty load to get off the ground.

I remember in a documentary film about the bombing of the Baghdad reactor that the Israeli F-16s were so loaded down with fuel and two large bombs apiece, that they used virtually the entire runway just to take off with little to spare.

Given the greater distance to Iran, the F-15I, and presumably the F-16I, would shed a lot of weight as well as their drop tanks, before entering hostile airspace.

Too bad Israel doesn't have and B-1Bs. Would make things a bit easier.

Don't worry, all nine KC-707 tankers will be airborne, refueling the strike and escort packages to and from Iran.
