Yeah, give me a couple minutes. Trying to pull the post together with a pic.
9 x 18mm Makarov, 97mm (3.82") bbl.
First, here's a pic of my "new" sidearm (had to shop out the serial numbers for obvious reasons):
Shot 30 rnds of Russkie 100 grn FMJ yesterday. The first ten were all over the place and I was not happy with the gun. Then I realized that I was the problem. I readjusted my grip and the next ten were much better and the gun felt much more comfortable.
Having knocked the rust off my sidearm shooting skills with the first twenty, the last ten grouped about 3" @ 15 yds. Pretty darn good, considering the sad state of my atrophied sidearm skills.
A humbling experience and reminded me once again that shooting skills are quickly lost. Of course, I need more practice, which means more trips to the range and killing more paper. Dammit. ;-)
My overall opinion: The CZ 82 is a fine handgun. Recoil is minimal for a 9mm small gun and accuracy is great (assuming I can clean up my act). I am confident that my wife can comfortably shoot this gun with no problem.
Side note: My wife took one look at it and said, "It looks like it's been through a war." I replied, "It has honey -- the Cold War." The finish is the usual Soviet bloc military quality, but it's a shooter, and that's all I care about. That and it was only $170 + BS.
