I fail to see why American citizens need to be criminalized
because of the criminal action of illegals.

Enforcing laws against Businesses who hire illegals is not punishing the biz for something the illegal did. it is punishing the biz for what it did.
IF businesses don’t hire illegals they will leave

"I fail to see why American citizens need to be criminalized because of the criminal action of illegals.",

I am of the same mindset lets take all this effort that goes toward punishing business in the USA and instead apply it to something that will do some good instead of just an exercise in make-do work, like:

BUILD A BIG FREAKING WALL ON THE BORDER WITH ARMED GUARDS WALKING THE TOP OF IT!

Then when you catch an illegal and you toss him/her back over the border they don't just turn around and walk back in...

Or does that make too much sense for the government mindset to take in?

Because they hired illegals and belong in prison!

Knowingly hiring illegal labor is a crime.
