The borders should be closed up for security reasons, but it will barely slow the illegals who are here for work and welfare reasons. To get them to stop coming, you need to turn them away when they apply for a job, when they try to rent housing, when they try to open bank accounts, when they try to put their kids in school, when they show up for medical treatment, when they are arrested for petty crimes, etc.
Close the borders FIRST. Limit Visas, periodically
check visas, if we can have NICS we can do the same for
