Archbishop Rembert Weakland was the fair-haired boy of the liberals when he was out campaigning against Ronald Reagan’s policies, when he was doing his anti-war, anti-defense protests, and when he was defending liberation theology in Latin America.
Weakland was curiously silent in other major issues like abortion. The life of hypocrisy and deceit that Weakland led make him a fitting source for the New York Times. One hopes that he may find forgiveness in God. He should be less fortunate on earth.

During the homily today, our priest touched on Weakland. He said he did not want to get into personal details but Weakland was way to liberal and espoused liberation theology.
