The Rage Is Not About Health Care
New York Slimes ^ | March 27, 2010 | FRANK RICH

Posted on 03/28/2010 7:00:46 AM PDT by SmokingJoe

THERE were times when last Sunday’s great G.O.P. health care implosion threatened to bring the thrill back to reality television. On ABC’s “This Week,” a frothing and filibustering Karl Rove all but lost it in a debate with the Obama strategist David Plouffe. A few hours later, the perennially copper-faced Republican leader John Boehner revved up his “Hell no, you can’t!” incantation in the House chamber — instant fodder for a new viral video remixing his rap with will.i.am’s “Yes, we can!” classic from the campaign. Boehner, having previously likened the health care bill to Armageddon, was now so apoplectic you had to wonder if he had just discovered one of its more obscure revenue-generating provisions, a tax on indoor tanning salons.

But the laughs evaporated soon enough. There’s nothing entertaining about watching goons hurl venomous slurs at congressmen like the civil rights hero John Lewis and the openly gay Barney Frank. And as the week dragged on, and reports of death threats and vandalism stretched from Arizona to Kansas to upstate New York, the F.B.I. and the local police had to get into the act to protect members of Congress and their families.

How curious that a mob fond of likening President Obama to Hitler knows so little about history that it doesn’t recognize its own small-scale mimicry of Kristallnacht. The weapon of choice for vigilante violence at Congressional offices has been a brick hurled through a window. So far.

No less curious is how disproportionate this red-hot anger is to its proximate cause. The historic Obama-Pelosi health care victory is a big deal, all right, so much so it doesn’t need Joe Biden’s adjective to hype it. But the bill does not erect a huge New Deal-Great Society-style government program.

Where do you even start taking this nonsense apart from? A quick reply to this garbage from the frothing at the mouth, clearly mentally deranged Frank Reich and his New York Times publisher is in the Wall Street Journal this morning:
Murdoch to Sulzberger: You Are a Girly Man

I saw the Rove interview...he wiped the floor with Pfoffle...the poor guy almost stuck his thumb in his mouth and may well have wet himself.

Rove’s mathematical takedown of this bill was a beautiful thing to watch...I laughed out loud.

“frothing and filibustering Karl Rove”

Has he ever seen or heard Karl Rove talk? “Frothing”? Absolutely delusional.

“all but lost it in a debate with the Obama strategist David Plouffe”

Again, has he ever heard Karl Rove? Perhaps he’s redefining “lost” to mean “systematically and factually destroyed the other guy’s pathetic arguments”.

I see Frank has yet to leave his padded cell and join us in reality. Rove may have been (gloriously) loud and raging, but he didn't utter a single word that wasn't forwarding arguments of fact and substance, or directly engaging lies and evasions by Plouffe. Plouffe may have been soft spoken, but he was the one "frothing and filibustering".

Propaganda from the NY Times which just slashed $10 million in benefits from its blue collar workers and gave $10 million to its super greedy Socialist owners.

Nope, it’s about fedzilla forcing people into contracts with private businesses.

Hitler didn't have Rush Limbaugh to contend with, or the internet, or viral email, or the ability of the masses to spread information to millions in just seconds, just by the click of a button, with zero control from the government. There is too much anti-0bamacare stuff on conservative talk radio and the internet, for 0bama to be able to get away with any lies for even one week, despite a determined pro-0bamacre propaganda effort by the mainstream media.

Nice try, Rich - Rove mopped the floor with the smirking tool Plouffe.

So true. I had one, when pressed for a source of a obvious false statement, tell me he didn't need a source as he "watch MSNBC."

Who falls for this sort crap these days? In reality, Maher and Rich seem to be insulting most of the people who pay attention to them. Sooner or later, I guess the people who bother to follow these idiots will stop hating themselves.

Tsk, tsk. You neither enlighten or frighten people with the garbage you write

When all of your smoke is blown away, what I see is that you are scared...and well you should be.

70% of the people are angry with their gov’t and nearly 50 percent of them are very angry. The Dem’s majority and socialist agenda is going to come to an end, and your fish-wrap newspaper is already on death’s door.

Perhaps he’s redefining “lost”

RATS do this all the time.....

.....When they can't win an argument on merit, they redefine the words of the issue to suit their agenda.

Then they say they "Won".

I remember in the mid 1990's Clinton redefined the term "family-values" to mean welfare.
