Former UN envoy Bolton says Washington pressuring Israel not to strike nuke facilities.
Former US ambassador to the UN John Bolton expressed concern Sunday that Washington was coming to terms with a nuclear Iran.
I very much worry the Obama administration is willing to accept a nuclear Iran, that's why there's this extraordinary pressure on Israel not to attack in Iran, Bolton told Army Radio.
The former envoy claimed that this pressure was the focus of last week's meetings in Washington between Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyhau and US officials, including President Barack Obama.
Bolton said that the Obama administration had embraced the view, prevalent in Europe, that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict was the key to the resolution of all other conflicts throughout the Middle East, including the Iranian conflict.
He added that the rift in US-Israel relations stemmed from a fundamental difference in the understanding of the Middle East and Israel's role in the Middle East, and is not really about east Jerusalem at all.
Bolton said that the treatment Netanyahu received during his visit "should tell the people of Israel how difficult it's going to be dealing with Washington for the next couple of years."

Maybe Obama’s really French. Does he eat cheese?
I would disagree with that. Netanyahu is probably more conservative than your average Republican and was voted in by the Israeli people.
American Jews are another mattter, and they are still quite liberal. Obama is making so many different enemies recently, it could really be a blow out in 2010, including Jews who no longer contribute to Democrats (already happening) and then start moving to the GOP, as in 1980.

I disagree. I am Jewish myself, but conservative (a genetic quirk, no doubt). I really get the feeling that a lot of my Jewish bretheren would still vote for the Democratic party even if their platform included the destruction of Israel and the establishment of Jewish concentration camp in America. As long as all the other liberal causes were covered (health care, gay rights, etc) it would be fine. Don’t ask me to explain it with logic, I can’t.
You are being a bit silly here. I predict Jews will start sending much less money to the Dems and more to the Reps . .it is already happening. Mort Zuckerman and James Tisch come to mind

God bless you for staying true to your Jewish roots and heritage in honoring Israel. As a Christian (with one Jewish grandparent), I understand the significance of the promised land and all that this promise entails. Could this be more repeated in the Holy Scripture? This is the land promised to the Jewish nation. They have been exiled numerous times, but it is written over and over that this land has been set aside and that it is holy to God’s chosen.
You are being a bit silly here.
I swear there is something self destructive in the Jewish psyche—and perhaps even in the Western psyche too. I just thank G-d that no one in (my branch) of the family seems to be infected with it.
Last time I checked the Israelis are Jews and they elected a PM much more conservative than George W. Bush. So your argument isn’t logical.
Trust me, there are plenty of Israelis who would drink the kool-aid too. Thank G-d they aren’t (yet) in the majority. But they are definitely in the majority among American Jews. Again, I am the black sheep of my family. I have two strikes against me: I was a career AF officer and I’m a conservative. I’m surprised they still talk to me.
I should also add that I am watching the Iranian nuclear developments with more than a little alarm. I have no doubt that the Iranians will use nukes on Israel once they have them. Probably not directly, but through a proxy, like Hamas or Hezbollah. I suspect Israel is getting all kinds of pressure from the Obama Administration to sit on their hands. IMHO, this is suicidal. I take the Iranian maniacs at face value. Israel needs to do whatever it takes to shut down the Iranian nuclear program permanently and make them the poster child for why it doesn’t pay to mess with the Jewish state. Will this happen? I hope so, because I fear the alternative is the (longer term) extinction of the Jewish people.
ABout time someone or something is recognizing what I have long been saying on this board: Jack Squat Barry and Hitlery have long accepted Iran as a nuclear fact.
I am just enjoying all of the enemies that Obama is making. When the Jews start murmuring among themselves about Obama being an enemy of Israel, it isn’t too long before the media falls in line.
I have seen this script before. It involved Jimmy Carter and Jewish support for Reagan in 1980. You must start thinking better of your fellow Jews. Are you religious by the way?
You could be right. Perhaps the Biden blow-up was just an excuse for the meeting between Bibi and Zero to finalize an attack. Zero wants Israel to take out the Iranian nuke sites but wants “plausible deniability” that we urged them not to do it. He still looks good to the Muslim brothers even though he approved the troop increase in Afghanistan and is going full bore with predator attacks in Pock-i-stan.
Or maybe Zero just hates Jews and Israel.
Time will tell.
The Arab nations have no love at all for the Palistinians. They think of them the way Oprah thinks of the people on the south side of Chicago.
My level of observance goes in phases. When I was younger, it was moderate, in college it was low. After I had kids it spiked again. Now that the kids are older its pretty dorment. Most of the time, I’m just too darn tired on Saturday to get up early and go to services. I also have issues with the inordinate expense of belonging to a temple.
I love my fellow Jews, and like being a member of the “Tribe”, but don’t understand or respect some of them all that much. If that makes sense.

Translation: “No, I am not that religious.”
