As Democrats tout the moral underpinnings of the federal health care system overhaul -- ensuring health care coverage for nearly all Americans -- one senator appeared to go off message when he said the legislation would address the "mal-distribution of income in America."
After the Senate passed a "fix-it" bill Thursday to make changes to the new health care law, Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., chairman of the influential Finance Committee, said the overhaul was an "income shift" to help the poor.
"Too often, much of late, the last couple three years, the mal-distribution of income in American is gone up way too much, the wealthy are getting way, way too wealthy and the middle income class is left behind," he said. "Wages have not kept up with increased income of the highest income in America. This legislation will have the effect of addressing that mal-distribution of income in America."
That contrasted with the arguments Democrats have been making in the past year for reinventing the health care system: to expand health care coverage to 32 million uninsured Americans and tighten regulations on insurance companies while reducing the federal deficit.

Wait until they say no one is allowed to work more that 33 1/2 hrs. a week. That order is coming soon.
Mal-distribution? What sort of word is that!? IMO we should start with the incomes of some members of congress and distribute those first. Nancy Pelosi is sitting pretty.
The only ones that won’t have their money confiscated is theirs!!! The only ones to get healthcare will be them! Get the picture????
And Baucus is touted as a centrist? What a commie.
The Sheriff of Nottingham has now become Robin Hood.
I’d like to know how this guy even got elected. I was under the impression that Montana was heavily conservative state.
The Kool-Aid makes everybody do weird things.
Hey fatcat Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont, I wonder if you would give me your wealth to help with the Mal Distribution problem?
Stupid Marxist animals think they can just continue to vote themselves ever increasing amounts of our money and freedom and were just supposed to shut up and like it or else
They havent seen anything yet
Its not enough to vote out the marxists in swing districts and regain the majority, that will be the easy part.
It needs to be coupled with the destruction of the communist Congressional Progressive Caucus as an above ground legitimate organization.
Its members and supporters need to be exposed as reds, prosecuted and imprisoned where evidence of criminality is uncovered, and the organization itself driven back underground like in the 50s, when American communists met in secret to plot their government takeover, not changed their names to Progressives and did it in our faces in broad daylight.
One of the few times the Obamas spoke the truth was during the campaign was when he said he was going to redistribute the wealth and she said she was going to take care of “her people”. The mainstream news media glossed that over and the idiots attending those meetings must have been deaf because they applauded and cheered wildly.

I have the feeling that when the “poor” realize they won’t recieve anything more than what they receive now (for they already receive “free” health care) they are going to be pretty upset. The free loaders are being led to believe that by having insurance they are “gettin mo from da man”. Any guesses on what happens when they figure it out?

Actually, I want all of what she's got ~ but she can just get out ~ don't want her.
The sooner she can arrange to move off the property the better.
After all, it's my money in her pocket!
Maybe he should propose a law so he can get half of Harry Reid’s money.
From what I’ve read this health care bill hits very hard in the $80K-120K income bracket. That’s the upper middle class, which tends to be fairly conservative and votes more for Republicans than for Democrats. So this health care bill doesn’t do what Baucus thinks it does. It takes income from the upper middle class and gives it to lower middle class families and the poor, which are big democrat constiutiencies. There’s no justification for that whatsoever. Families earning $100K cannot afford to spend $14K on a gold-plated health insurance policy which redistributes a good chunk of that $14K annual premium to poor people. That kind of over-taxation is very damaging to the upper middle class and it will never be politically acceptable to the vast majority of Americans. The liberals are going to be voted out in large numbers in November and then the repeal of this monstrous tax increase will begin.
and the middle income class is left behind?????? Who the f are they kidding? They are using us, the middleclass as thier jackass. This has everything to do with the destruction of the middleclass. The poor reap the redistribution rewards, the wealthy either leave town, pay or hide thier achievemnets and we, the middleclass get pummeled until we are brought down to the poverty level and dependent on these a##clowns for our sustanence. I’ll be damed!
Let’s see what the distribution of income looks like in 2020.
