GOD said that all our good deeds were like filthy rags to him.
Isaiah 64:6 (King James Version)
6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Thanks for the link. I’m not a christian, but I sure know a socialist P.O.S. when I see one.
Jesus was ticked off and turned tables over people being cheated at the temple gates.
Bigger cheating. Bigger tables. Our turn to flip them. I believe this is what he would want.
Yah'shua said in Matthew 7shalom b'SHEM Yah'shua HaMashiach15 "Beware of the false prophets,Wallis is a false prophet; beware.
who come to you in sheep's clothing,
but inwardly are ravenous wolves.
No, Mr. Wallis. Christians ought to stand up to you, to your lies, to your distortions, to your deceptions in the name of Jesus. How dare you substitute Marxism for the Word of God.
While I vehemently disagree with the theological errors and heresies of Mormonism as espoused by Glenn Beck, His message to America is far and away less damaging than yours, Mr. Wallis!
Glenn Beck is right.
It is time for all of us to write or email this numb skull....he apparently did not watch the show.
Writing in the comments is good...but I think it is time we start helping Glenn out!
Wallis is a frequent visitor to the White House, I’ll bet!
Yes I am and Jim Wallis is a liberation theologian which is not orthodox christian.
Well, actually, Restornu...Let's compare Jeremiah Wright's UCC denomination about the need to have one female as an essentiality within marriage to what a certain "prophet" was saying in 1878, shall we?
July, 2005 New York Times: The United Church of Christ became the first mainline Christian denomination to support same-sex marriage officially when its general synod passed a resolution on Monday affirming "equal marriage rights for couples regardless of gender." http://www.nytimes.com/2005/07/05/national/05church.html
UCC conclusion: One woman doesn't necessarily cut it for a marriage (pretty progressive)
From the Joseph F. Smith 1878 message:
Some people have supposed that the doctrine of plural marriage was a sort of superfluity, or non-essential to the salvation or exaltation of mankind. In other words, some of the Saints have said, and believe, that a man with one wife, sealed to him by the authority of the Priesthood for time and eternity, will receive an exaltation as great and glorious, if he is faithful, as he possibly could with more than one. I WANT HERE TO ENTER MY SOLEMN PROTEST AGAINST THIS IDEA, FOR I KNOW IT IS FALSE. There is no blessing [blessing] promised except upon conditions, and NO BLESSING CAN BE OBTAINED BY MANKIND EXCEPT BY FAITHFUL COMPLIANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS, OR LAW, upon which the same is promised. The marriage of one woman to a man for time and eternity by the sealing power, according to the law of God, is a fulfillment of the celestial law of marriage IN PART-and is good so far as it goes-and so far as a man abides these conditions of the law, he will receive his reward therefore [therefore], and this reward, or blessing, he could not obtain on any other grounds or conditions. But this is only the beginning of the law, not the whole of it. Therefore, whoever has imagined that he could obtain the fullness of the blessings pertaining to this celestial law, by complying with only a portion of its conditions, has deceived himself. He cannot do it
Lds prophet Smith made it quite clear that Mormons who duck polygamy are...
...out of compliance with the full measure of the law...
...therefore ineligible to obtain the fullness of the blessings pertaining to this celestial law...
...and he "protests the idea" that it is considered by some "saints" to a "non-essential to the salvation or exaltation of mankind."
Lds conclusion: One woman doesn't necessarily cut it for a marriage (even more progressive for its context considering how Victorian things were).
Well, certainly not where I come from. The heart of Bibical faith would be Christ's death on the cross to attone for our sins. Those who believe escape God's wrath that all humans deserve. God's Son took that wrath upon Himself, in our place, for redemption of many. Jesus taught us how to escape from (God's) justice, by grace through faith.
Nice display of that progressive mind you embrace!
The Eye of the Camel was one of the entrances to the holy city and you could only use it is you were on foot, and a camel cannot crawl through the doorway..
OOPs I think it was the eye of the needle entrance..
Agreed. When Jesus said, "Love thy neighbor as thy self," he was telling Christians to help those in need. He was talking to Christians. He was not talking to politicians. Jesus did not say, "Form a governing body, tax those that work and give to the poor."
Social justice? I am fairly certain Jesus implied there is no true justice in the world.
Well. How about, Restornu?
Your dead "prophet" said...
...some of the Saints have said, and believe, that a man with ONE WIFE, sealed to him by the authority of the Priesthood for time and eternity, will receive an exaltation as great and glorious, if he is faithful, as he possibly could with more than one.
[So far, Restornu, this sounds like it represents you...]
Smith, cont'd: I WANT HERE TO ENTER MY SOLEMN PROTEST AGAINST THIS IDEA, FOR I KNOW IT IS FALSE.
[Oh. I guess any contemporary Mormons that might be tempted to settle for one wife would rile this Lds "prophet" right out of his protesteth grave, eh?]
Smith cont'd: There is NO blessing [blessing] promised except upon...
Except upon what, Restornu?
Smith cont'd: ...conditions, and NO BLESSING CAN BE OBTAINED BY MANKIND EXCEPT BY FAITHFUL COMPLIANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS, OR LAW, upon which the same is promised.
And, as Smith went on to say, if your hubby was only to married to you, and none other, well, he only fulfilled the Mormon god's "celestial law of marriage IN PART"-but twas "only the beginning of the law, not the whole of it.
"Therefore," concluded Smith in this message, "whoever has imagined that he could obtain the fullness of the blessings pertaining to this celestial law, by complying with only a portion of its conditions, has deceived himself. He cannot do it."
So, Restornu, do ye need to go marry another one-man wife to help him "complete" the progressive Mormon god's law? (You don't want to make a Mormon "prophet" otherwise look bad, do you?)
Libs can never explain this element of Basic Christianity away.
This social justice movement “feels” good but it replaces the most important thing anyone must hear and respond to, the GOSPEL!
