Very good followup to the arrest of the Oregon man whose supervisors said was disgruntled, after he bought a couple more guns.

The police "were able to successfully take a potentially volatile male subject into protective custody for a mental evaluation...

THAT narrows it down.

“There’s just one problem: David Pyles hadn’t committed any crime, nor was he suspected of having committed one. The police never obtained a warrant for either search or arrest. They never consulted with a judge or mental health professional before sending out the military-style tactical teams to take Pyle in.”

Even though his right to due process was violated there will still be people on this thread who will still support what LEO did.

I see a nice house and relaxing live style in the south pacific for this new winner of the lottery.

I hope the jury gives him enough money to crush this out of control nazi style police force.

Cops love to dress in their wannabee military assault clothes and play action hero.

There are a few Firefighters that are Arsonists.

I suppose it’s the Adrenalin rush.

These cops committed so many crimes here they should spend most of the rest of their lives in jail.

They violated his rights under color of law, a federal offense. The federal law against violating someone’s civil rights under color of law was passed to protect citizens from laws like Oregon’s law that allows cops to randomly pull people off their own property for “a mental health evaluation”.

They committed burglary of a residence when they took his guns. Just to name two of their crimes.

He should go to the nearest federal prosecutor and file charges. From there he should go to his local district attorney and file charges. In both cases he should be accompanied by an attorney.

When dealing with rogue cops one should always have as much legal power and press around as one can get. The fact that there are this many bad cops on the force doesn’t speak well for the leadership. The corruption could extend to the highest ranks of the department.

I’m thinking of all the firearms he’ll be able to buy after he wins a lawsuit against the PD. Gun Porn Reverie here.

With the mentality of home invasion burglars, but with the government's blessing. After all, who else is gonna let ya play storm trooper with an MP-5 and cover your ass if you shoot someone?

Yeah, the people of Oregon should demand this rat’s nest be cleaned out. A few years hard time in general population would do these guys some good and serve as a warning to others that this crap will not be tolerated.

The sad truth is that Medford is fairly conservative. It’s had a rep in Eugene as being just a bunch of goat-roping Klansmen for decades.

police never obtained a warrant for either search or arrest. They never consulted with a judge or mental health professional before sending out the military-style tactical teams to take Pyle in.

last week, i was under the impression that they had a warrant...

now it seems that they simply have 'authority' to make essentially life and death decisions based on a phone call without the slightest bit of intel or investigation...

this smells more like a trial ballon to see the public/private reaction rather than any sort of keepin the peace...

this road will not end well...

"There's no arrest, these people aren't being taking to jail. It's not a criminal action."

also, where are the legal beagles on this ???

weve been told repeatedly that even a traffic stop is an 'arrest' of sort, since you are not free to leave, even if not cited/charged, until occifer friendly 'deems' you may leave...

so how is forcible removal from yer home, at nite no less, put on yer face in the dirt [if yer lucky not to have asphlt or gravel drive], be handcuffed and moved to another location against yer will NOT an arrest ???not to mention the 4th and 5th A violations...

like i said last post, this trial balloon will end badly...
