Congressman Paul Ryan: Fix Health Reform, Then Repeal It
The New York Times ^ | 03-25-2010 | Rep. Paul Ryan

Posted on 03/25/2010 8:27:48 PM PDT by Solson

ON Thursday night, Congress sent to President Obama the reconciliation package to remove some of the embarrassing provisions in his signature legislative achievement, health care reform. But a serious fix for what ails health care in America will entail far more than merely tweaking the new law of the land; we will need to repeal the entire faulty architecture of the government behemoth and replace it with real reform.

Come on Rep Ryan - Defund then repeal. Kill it as fast as possible.

The lawsuits hopefully can get to SCOTUS by this summer at least AG Ken C’s in VA.

We have to win the House then DEFUND it then Repeal it. Has to be DEFUNDED.

This is EXACTLY what we need to be seeing from ALL of our leaders. It’s not enough to simply say “repeal it now!” (although that must be the primary goal), because it makes it too easy for the Dems to shoot back with “the Republicans oppose reform!” Our message needs to be “Repeal, then replace with market-based reforms”

Excellent Op-ed. I am surprised that the NYT invited this piece.

There's a "Paul Ryan for President" on Facebook.

Funny how the anti-capitalistic NYT still needs to rely on capitalism to fund its propaganda.

I agree! They all need to state the specific problem and state the specific fix for the problem. Sounds so simple. Wonder why so few can articulate?

Rep. Paul Ryan has emerged as one of the few true statesmen out of this entire debacle. He has been unrelenting and objective in addressing the facts, and that is what will ultimately prevail. It’s a silly waste of time and energy to get all emotional and lose objectivity when it’s been clear since the 2008 election that this is the path the Democrats were going to take. Our job now is to use our heads and stay focused on getting strong Conservatives elected and in positions where they can start un-doing the damage that has been done.

Congress is too proud to repeal bad laws. They’ll talk about it, but it’s not going to happen.
