Oddly, Thabo Mbeki, who you point out was a graduate of Patrice Lamumba University, was actually a fairly moderate leader, who tried to work with white businessmen and mine owners until he was displaced by a much more radically populist President, Jacob Zuma.

Zuma’s favorite campaign song, which he sang at every stop, was “Bring me my machine gun.”

The political concept of Triangulation is universally understood, even with politicians in African nations. Many in the MSM here in the US views Obama as being Moderate — even though Obama OBVIOUSLY is NOT Moderate. However, Obama will certainly attempt to appear Moderate after Conservatives win over Congress in November.

However, South African's Thabo Mbeki’s Communist background is as undeniable ... as was his INABILITY simply to be a good President.

Mbeki already had a strike against him with his controversial views on AIDS and HIV, leading to derision between he and his party, as well as within his nation — very NON-PC.

Many other issues over Mbeki's eight-year-rule led to his Recall, including:

— his Energy policy (blackouts which eventually forced Gold and Platinum mining companies to stop production)
— his rejection of the APRM panel on crime, calling their recommendations “a populist view”
— his inability to control migration (illegal immigration) from Zimbabwe, and the riots that followed. etc.

In case you may not have noticed, there ARE similarities between Obama and Mbeki in these areas ...
