Sounds very likely. And puppets are usually motivated by rewards and the stick - no doubt his handlers have “the goods” on him and can destroy him as easily as they created him.

Truth is 10 years ago there was nothing much to destroy.
Whomever is running him has an intricate knowledge of burying any intel/info we need. To me it all wreaks of KGB style of disinformation, burying the truth,etc. but then that's just a guess on my part.
