Under the 25th Amendment:
Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.
this effectively removes the President, although temporarily, but presumably the VP could remain "acting President' until expiration of the term.

LOL ... I remember seeing that process as part of the storyline in the
TV series "24" -- with
Jack Bauer in it.
It was interesting to see how it worked in that storyline of that TV series -- but -- I don't think you've ever seen that even attempted in this country -- to force out a President, against his will, much less successful.
Do you know of even one such ... mere "attempt" (and not saying "success" either) to force out the President against his will, using this method?

Once the president sends his written declaration that he is fit to return to duty, Congress must assemble within 48 hours and take up the question within 21 days. The president resumes office unless 2/3 of both houses of Congress vote otherwise. So it's not really an end run around impeachment.
