The LDS church normally tries to keep stuff like this hidden. In this case the family has done the right thing in voluntarily looking for and turning in the evidence.

(Or, they'll suddenly play, "We're the PR kings with random impeccable timing": Hours after this news article broke (originally broke Tuesday), Newsroom.lds.org ran this press release, "Mormon church helps South African children" -- which was published in the Deseret News and coincidentally was released @ "12:09 a.m." on March 24...now tell me, seriously what P.R. person is up @ that hour -- post-midnight -- putting out an otherwise hum-drum "let's convey our almsgiving to the world" piece???)

I believe that to be a lie. The LDS Church is famous for NOT tolerating sin. They do not turn a blind eye to sin. How dare you say such a thing.
