Updated: 4:55 p.m. U.S. Rep. Tom Perriellos brother received a threatening letter in the mail on the same day that someone apparently severed a gas line at the home in Ivy.
Two conservative Tea Party activists posted the address of the home on the Internet on Monday, mistakenly believing it was the home of the congressman. One of the activists urged others to drop by and express their thanks for Perriellos vote in favor of health care reform.
Tuesday evening, Perriellos brothers family smelled gas and discovered the propane line of a gas-powered grill on their screened-in porch had been slashed.

I guess I just removed myself as a suspect. When I want to kill someone I just.....uh...nevermind.
Is it even LEGAL to have a filled or partially filled propane container inside any part of a dwelling?
Half joking, but it certainly is NOT legal to have a filled or partially filled (or "ever filled") propane tank inside a commercial establishment. They must be secured outdoors.
Unscrew the burner end.
#1. you were next going to club the owner over the head with the empty tank,
#2....or stand in the bushes and laugh hysterically as he has to go somewhere and purchase a fresh tank with his wife screaming at him loud enough for the neighbors to hear that he's "holding up dinner", and "I thought you said you checked the tank!!".
OMG, I laughed so hard I had to stop reading and catch my breath. That is the funniest post I've seen about this yet! I nominate you for Post of the Year.
It's hard to get at. The "burner end" doesn't screw in, in the ones I am familiar with, the hose ends in an "aerator" (for lack of a better word) and is secured by clips to the burner pan. You could accomplish the same thing by just turning on the burners and never pressing the igniter. You'd get a better build up if you don't open the lid and let the gas accumulate inside. Which is probably what someone would do if they really wanted to hurt someone.
Although, if your purpose was to "send a message" slicing the line would be more effective.
It's a shame that they published his address, but if he installs a security camera it will cut down on curiosity seekers. When that twit was arrested in Sudbury (MA) for trying to join the "jihad" I drove down the cul-de-sac his parents lived on out of curiosity. There was a four wheel drive vehicle parked across from their driveway in a town where people don't usually park on the street. Might have been some kind of private security. I also remember the traffic jams when I lived near Amityville, NY when cars would line up to drive past the "Horror House".
