And then we could have a North and South Illinois (where the majority of population is Cook County). South Illinois could live quite well without North Illinois. IMO

Just like the rest of MI could get along a whole lot better without the Detroit/Flint/Jackson corner.

Well at least I would only have to cross the street to be out of Illinois then. But why South Illinois? I'm thinking call it North Kentucky or West Indiana. East Missouri is out of the question and don't even get me started about South Wisconsin.
