Republican Lieutenant Governor Brian Dubie leads all five of his potential Democratic opponents in the first Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 survey of this years race for governor in Vermont.
A telephone survey of likely voters in the state shows Secretary of State Deb Markowitz to be the most competitive Democrat for now. Dubie leads her by seven points, 46% to 39%. He posts a 48% to 35% lead over State Senator Doug Racine, a former lieutenant governor. Dubie earns 51% of the vote against State Senate President Pro Tempore Peter Shumlin, who picks up 33%. The Republican enjoys an even larger lead - 51% to 29% - over former state Senator Matt Dunne.
When State Senator Susan Bartlett is his Democratic opponent, Dubie holds a two-to-one lead, 52% to 26%. Anywhere from four (4%) to seven percent (7%) of the state's voters prefer some other candidate in every match-up, while undecideds range from 10% to 14%.

What can you tell us about Dubie?
Good the more Govs we win or maintain the better
granted VT is a small state but a win will be a win
now if we can hold TX, FL and CA while picking up WI, MI, IL, PA, OH and CO while doing well in a host of others it wil lbe a GREAT redistricting year (ok i am asking a lot here but a guy can dream cant he)
Any chance Douglas will challenge Leahy? Probably our only chance.
WE need to zero in on getting Republican governors across the board - Governors have great influence on what happens in DC
and Vermont has been - ‘infiltrated’ years ago by Socialists - need to be liberated.

Unfortunately no.
yeah, I guess the only way he’s leaving the senate is on a stretcher.. like Kennedy
Vermont currently has a Republican governor so a win here would simply be a “hold”. Governor Douglas has, however, been holding off by veto numerous democrat spending plans for years so a win is crucial.
Also there is only one “at large” district in the state (only 600K people) so a win won’t help towards redistricting.
F-4 Phantom II guy, a REAL MAN’s Fighter!
Leahy became a senator when I was in kindergarten. I have no doubt he will still be there when my grandchildren are in kindergarten.
We need to back him and hope for Leahy and Sanders to get the Scott Browned treatment.
LOL, my boss was also an F-4 pilot and he’d love to talk to you about it over the next 8 hours or so!
true but as you say a hold is good for your state regardless. Also pure numbers its good (some bozo reporter was saying that if the GOP doesnt have a net gain of at least 6 Governorships than Obama wins) to hold onto any state.
I’m thinking he has an uphill fight since this is the first I’ve even heard his name.
My first “cruise” in USS Independence CV-62 we had CVW-6 with 2 F-4J Squadrons(VF-33 and VF-102)! The Phantom II always impressed my as a REAL MAN’s fighter!
The VTANG used to have F4s here when I was in high school I was always impressed by them. The things were so loud that when they started taking off classes were basically over for the next half hour or so and we were miles from the airport.
a large number of those polled reflexively said yes when they heard the name Dubie...so the poll might overstate his support
Your boy Dubie is crushing most of the opposition.
