FAIRFIELD, Conn. Police in Connecticut say they had ample warning of a bank robbery because the two suspects called the bank ahead of time and told an employee to get a bag of money ready.
Police arrested 27-year-old Albert Bailey and an unidentified 16-year-old boy on robbery and threatening charges Tuesday afternoon at a People's United Bank branch in Fairfield.
Sgt. James Perez says the two Bridgeport residents showed up about 10 minutes after making the call and were met by police in the parking lot. Perez told the Connecticut Post the suspects were "not too bright."

now, if they had gone to another bank on the other side of town while the cops were waiting at that one, it might have worked.

Nature has it’s own way of dealing with the stupid.

That’s stupid. Call a bank with delivery. Sure you have to toss in a couple bucks for a tip, but the convenience is worth it.

Next time, they plan to mail a letter.
That way the bank won't know their phone number.

My daughter went to high school with one who could top this. She didn't know the perp at all, but she was acquainted with one of his female co-workers from a local fast food restaurant who mentioned that he was far from the sharpest knife in the drawer.
To make a long story short; the perp handed the bank a hold-up note written on one of his own deposit slips.
We thought that absolutely took the cake for bank robber stupidity. Then, just a few months later, another would-be bank robber from the eastern end of our fair Commonwealth topped it: He used his own deposit slip, but had the sense to rob a different bank. The clerk, who'd evidently read about our local case, was quick on the draw and told him he'd either have to write a hold-up note on the deposit slip for their bank or take the hold-up note he'd written to the right bank. Three guesses as to what he did . . .

Next time, they plan to mail a letter. That way the bank won't know their phone number. That would be OK so long as they signed the letter so the Bank would know who to give the money to.

now, if they had gone to another bank on the other side of town while the cops were waiting at that one, it might have worked. Yes, but the money would not have been ready and waiting for them. The easy way to rob a bank is to go through the drive thru and order a bag of money like at a McDonalds.

Well, duh... The bank needs enough time in advance of the “withdrawal” to arrange for proper IRS withholding to fund health care reform... They should make this a requirement for all bank robberies in the future...
