LOL, you have to be freakin out of your mind.
You suggest rewriting everything this Country is founded on and you then try to equate me to loon outside of a Coulter speech?
The enemy is within, no doubt.....why are you here?
Alright - I can take abuse, but DO NOT associate me with DU ...
And I agree, the courts should be allowed to determine the constitutionality of healthcare. But what if they rule that it IS constitutional? Then, we are stuck with it.
But, a Constitutional Convention could produce other amendments - it would have to be a co-ordinated effort amongst the states. There are many things that 70-80% of the public agrees on.
Now - just think about it ... what about:
1. An amendment defining "natural born citizen" - as the Founders knew it. As it stands, we are stuck with BO for now, and God forbid, a second term. Do you want it to happen again in a future election?
2. An amendment stating that all legislators shall affirm that they read each and every piece of legislation before they vote on that particular piece.
3. Make it illegal for anyone to offer any inducement [Cornhusker Kickback, etc.] in exchange for a vote.
4. Remove ALL "pork" from ALL legislation. All "pork" to be consolidated in ONE bill - and EACH piece to be voted on separately. Names and votes to be recorded on each piece.
This is a way to hold legislators feet to the fire ... The Constitution can be cleaned up - without the BS that comes out of Washington ...
I predate you by a long shot and I pay for my right to be here.
I take it you are contributing to FR?
Now YOU sound like a DU candidate.
You are making very VALID points but your attitude makes people miss them and concentrate on the way you are saying it.
With all due respect, IMHO, it does.
I heard Mike Church or someone discussing this on Sirius Patriot a few days ago and liked the idea at first. But the more I thought and researched it the less I wanted it. It just seems rather drastic, there are better options at this time.
okay.
A CC is not up for debate, sorry.
Yes, I will slur those who want to dismantle the foundation of my Country....I've become accustom to it from the traitors in this Government but not here.
Everyone wants to be a troll hunter and slam someone for being a DU person. This is a recent FR phenom. Just report it to the admins and let them decide.
FR has always had robust debate from a variety of views. Shutting it down walks against the very document being discussed here.
First. it's non of your business, second, you have no right to be here, third, go check the list.
It does smack with a bit of irony doesn't it?
You have a gift for imagery.
You should join the administration.
An issue is not open for discussion because you have decided it. Anyone who disagrees is a traitor.
Sounds like a Democrat.
Exactly - Those were just theoretical examples I threw out there as POSSIBLE amendments to the Constitution, I am not proposing a total re-write [or any other amendments].
If a 1 or 2 amendments were passed - it would strengthen the Constitution in some gray areas AND throw the fear of God into those in Congress who have stopped listening to those that they are supposed to represent.
ouch ... now that's hitting low. =)
A two party system is good. It's a check on destructive coalitions. Its a check on those who, seeking to destroy a society, attempt to whipsaw it with a plethora of parties. Before 1932, there were 14 or so parties in the Reichstag representing 4 major and 10 minor philosophical views. That fragmentation allowed, as it did in Russia in 1917, the worst to gain power.
if (PosterType.Drunk || PosterType.Idiot) return 0;
else Console.WriteLine(opinion);
Hard to tell how this method will work out...time to code.
No. read the post I linked. It’s all there.
You and others think you have some sort of insight into a convention process and think Oh My God No!!! No!!! Not that!!! Never!!! It will sink the whole enchilada!!!!
That’s hysterical b*llshit.
Read post #52 of that thread and then read the following: (You might learn something, after all they were written and developed by longtime reputable Freepers, one of whom worked for Supreme Court justices)

The argument being put forth here is to re write a Contract which is not being upheld in the first place.
I suggest we concentrate on enforcing and upholding what we have before we look to some utopian change.
I don't know about you but I've seen what "change" looks like and I think I'll pass.
