March 23, 2010 By Slim Margin, Americans Support Healthcare Bill's Passage Independents evenly split in their basic reactions, but more are "angry" than "enthusiastic" by Lydia Saad
PRINCETON, NJ -- Nearly half of Americans give a thumbs-up to Congress' passage of a healthcare reform bill last weekend, with 49% calling it "a good thing." Republicans and Democrats have polar opposite reactions, with independents evenly split.
The findings, from a March 22 USA Today/Gallup poll conducted one day after the bill received a majority of votes in the U.S. House of Representatives, represent immediate reactions to the vote.
Americans' emotional responses to the bill's passage are more positive than negative -- with 50% enthusiastic or pleased versus 42% angry or disappointed -- and are similar to their general reactions.
Although much of the public debate over healthcare reform has been heated, barely a third of rank-and-file citizens express either enthusiasm (15%) or anger (19%) about the bill's passage. However, only Democrats show greater enthusiasm than anger. Independents are twice as likely to be angry as enthusiastic, and Republicans 10 times as likely.

It’s not.
There will be a poll in November that will tell how Americans felt about it.
We have removed God from the public so rather than our rights being inalienable and endowed by our Creator, we have government now giving us rights. Governments, liberals are our new god who bestow rights upon us.
What was the Democrat sample size, 80%?
Democrats oversampled?
Poll schmoll. The real poll will be held in November.
I mentioned Pell grants being in the bill and my sister said both parties wanted that and the bill is bi-partisan. So much for what people think. Wait until they get the bill and can’t find a doctor.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but a Repub House could refuse to fund ObamaCare, right?
A one night poll the day after a major event is hardly reliable. There have been dozens of polls over the last six months that all show the public is strongly against the healthcare bill. This has not changed overnight.
The poll also indicated that people with IQ’s between 80 and 100 overwhelmingly supported Obamacare, while those with IQ’s above 100 did not.
? Hope not.
This is a bogus poll of “adults,” not “likely voters” or even “registered vboters” - meaning Gallup got carte blanche to sample hugely in favor of Dems without being called on it.
Gallup is full of crap.
I think your right.
BUT YOU CAN’T REFUSE TO FUND INSURANCE FOR 25-YEAR-OLDS LIVING IN THEIR MOTHERS’ BASEMENTS!!!
There are some very smart people who support Obamacare for no other reason than they know absolutely NOTHING outside of their narrow area of expertise.
Gallup polled the New York and LA Times news rooms.
Berlin, Monday, Aug. 20Eighty-nine and nine-tenths per cent of the German voters endorsed in yesterday's plebiscite Chancellor Hitler's assumption of greater power than has ever been possessed by any other ruler in modern times. Nearly 10 per cent indicated their disapproval. The result was expected.
