It's safer than having an uninsured kid and way cheaper than having a kid trying to buy private insurance (easily $7000 or more a year)

You must live in a pricey state. I bought a policy for my college-age son last month - it costs about $100 a month. It was cheaper, in fact, than carrying him on my own policy.

Wow — that is a great price! I live in NJ and have Blue Cross/Blue Shield HMO coverage (an individual policy because I’m self-employed). I used to have PPP coverage, where I could go to my own doctor, but the policy was costing me close to $12,000 a year. I “downgraded” to HMO coverage, which runs about $7800.

Does your son have medical and surgical and prescription coverage and a high or low deductible? Nevermind — maybe I should just move to Ohio!!
