KS just dropped SCHIP (Denali Kids care for them) because they ran out of money. HI dropped theres, no dough.

Seems that when you offer something for free, folks will abuse it to death. Seems subsidized medical - even if you are 400% of the poverty level - is attractive.

For those in Rio Linda, a family of four can collect welfare in Alaska even with an income of 43K/yr (in some cases, slightly higher - up to 48K/yr)

Ya, Denali Kid Care is available to family of four making 40K. It really opened itself up to abuse for sure. I think Palin was trying to do good with Kid Care, but like you said; it went outta control. You know, our plan costs 18,500/year and only 80/20 family plan with $100/person yearly deduct and $1000 out of pocket with preferred provider. Needless to say we're hanging onto her at all costs. Here's the headache though. I have many conservative friends who say they can't afford such a plan and yet I wonder how can you not afford it? Does that mean we will see the majority of Americans defaulting to a govt plan down the road like they say? Complete economic collapse of everything surrounding health care? Taxes, Taxes, and more Taxes? Man, we have to hope and pray the repubs can rewrite the substance before the benefits begin. Here in Ak, we don't have all the massive state taxes. In rural areas it is cheaper to exist in many ways too. Boy, I'm really trying to become as self-sufficient as possible, but there are limits. It's how much one spends, not how much one makes that matters; especially if we end up with a VAT like in Canada. What is spooky is most my Canadian friends, and they ain't liberals either; say their system is ok; even the VAT. They claim all the benefits & services paid out balance everything,,,,,OUCH! So I always ask them why they buy all the fuel they can in Ak, rather than Dawson, ha ha. The future is not bright.

Back to Parnell. When he started talking about changing ACES, it seemed back to the same old corruption I have watched for so many years. With Palin, you knew she would lead. I wonder if Parnell has it in him?
