The Stupak amendment fails 199 to 232 (The Motion to Recommit)
Weekly Standard ^

The GOP is now offering its motion to recommit: the Stupak-Pitts amendment which passed the House 240 to 194 in November to ban abortion-funding. If it passes, the bill will have to go back to the Senate for approval, which means at least 25 Democrats will flip-flop on their previous vote on Stupak.
Stupak is now urging fellow members to vote it down.
Update: The Stupak amendment fails 199 to 232.

Stupak is now urging fellow members to vote it down. I give STUpak in November about a 2% chance in winning his seat back.

I think this second vote will on the MTR tells us clearly which DIMS really opposed the HCR bill and which ones were shills trying to use the vote as cover for re-election. Remember, Nazi P. was letting some of them vote NO as protection in tough re-elections in November. Look at the 22 who voted with Repubs on the Motion, and you’ll see the only DIMS who are truly pro-life and anti-HCR.

Does Stupak really think his ridiculous week of “Profiles-In-Courage” posturing, followed by this utter farce of a deal, is actually going to buy him immunity with the hometown rubes?

stupak will become a word in common usage meaning an ultimate spineless fraud and hypocrite. Excellent. I post on religion forums which are swamped with fake Catholics from KOS, MoveON, CAP (and some deluded Democratic Catholics). They will all be "stupaks" from here on out.

What’s the vote on the rest of it and why is it being kept such a secret at FR? I can’t find it anywhere. Maybe it’s because it’s late and I’m half asleep.
