Depends on what you like. The gulf coast has good fishing, but it's NOT like California beaches. Metroplex is good for business, but flat. Austin is good, but the liberal heart of the state. San Antonio and south is heavily hispanic. Good people, but not a lot of money, although San Antonio has a booming tourist industry. West Texas is very isolated. HS football teams travel 100 miles to play games. Panhandle is colder, and mostly agriculture and oil. Waco area (central Texas) is fairly cheap and has some pretty country. College station is Aggieland. Lotsa money around there, but you'd better love maroon and white. There's a line that runs down I-35. East of that is more like the old south, west is more like the west. Texas is like five different states. Just remember, though, God Blessed Texas!

I don’t care about California beaches. I live near Lake Tahoe in the Sierras. Old gold miner/cowboy/timber country. I think West Texas would be a little too isolated for me. I like a four-season climate. Agricultural is fine. I love the South.
