Driehaus confirms: Eight or nine pro-lifers are having a press conference at 4, with Stupak.
White smoke or black smoke?
The White House and anti-abortion Democrats have reached an agreement to defusethe controversy over abortion in the health reform bill planning a series of steps that will secure the support of Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) and other Democrats to give party leaders the votes they need to pass reform, sources tell POLITICO.
Under the agreement, President Barack Obama would sign an executive order ensuring that no federal funding will go to pay for abortion under the health reform plans. In addition, Stupak will get to state his concerns about abortion funding in the bill during a colloquy on the House floor during the debate.
And then, Stupak and several other Democratic hold-outs over abortion will sign on to the bill, the sources said. The agreement would almost certainly give House Speaker Nancy Pelosi the 216 votes she needs to secure an historic health reform vote by days end capping a year-long drive to achieve Obamas signature legislative goal.

This is not good- I think.
3rd time’s the charm
Fox is streaming the press conference live.
Are they going to announce they’re pro-death now?
They will stand there with the residual of Obama dripping from their lips.
I hate these guys.
If they were holding firm with no change in vote, then no presser would be needed.
So it can only mean they are voting YES.
Doesn’t sound good. They haven’t had any press conferences so far to announce that their vote was still no.
Uh-oh.
Press conference usually means ‘big announcement’, which usually means that something has changed. I hope I’m wrong, though.
So goes their votes, so goes the country.
Don’t want to wish my life away but I CAN’T WAIT UNTIL NOVEMBER to vote these commies out of office.
Yep, typical pols looking for cover.
I feel like such a fool, hoping for a pack of Dems to save it in the House. Then again, a Republican from Massachusetts recently appeared in the Senate. . .
Get some bishops there for the news conference. I would think if they were voting no then they would not need a news conference.
They’re going to tell us what nice people they are and how they can’t let Barack Hussein Obama Mmmmm, Mmmmm, Mmmmm, fail.
If abortion funding is not in the bill....then why do they need an executive order forbidding it?
It’s going to be a Dem slaughter in November.
