URUZGAN PROVINCE, AFGHANISTAN - Afghan President Hamid Karzai met with Dutch and Afghan officers and greeted villagers in the local market during his March 20 visit to the provincial capital of Tarin Kowt.
During the trip, the President conducted a shura with several hundred local citizens, where he took questions and addressed subjects like governance, development, reconciliation and service in the Afghan army and police force.
The President walked through the local bazaar, shared lunch with community elders, and visited the local hospital. ISAF Commander General Stanley McChrystal and several Afghan government officials accompanied the President on the visit.
