I just talked to Stupak in the basement of the Capitol as he walked passed a throng of protesters calling for members to vote against the bill.

However....I do think Stupak will get whatever he wants as regards the abortion language. I believe that he will insure that it is iron clad that nothing in this bill will allow federal funding of abortion.

I do NOT believe that the so-called Femi-Nazis will bolt once that language prohibiting federal funding is a done deal.

If it’s down to get rid of abortion funding or no health care bill at all, I think they’ll make the choice for the health care bill.

They can always get abortion funding later.

To sum up, Stupak gets whatever he wants, Pelosi shuts up the libbers and the bill passes.

I don’t like it but in my mind it’s where this thing is at now.

Never trust a dem. That video from post 58 shows that at the end of the day, Stupak will vote for it. He says he will. He says that he wanted to make his point that he opposes the abortion language, and that having done that, if he does not get what he wants; he can still vote for the bill. He says "that's the way democracy works".
